Course Description

The BLS and AED All Ages course is a practical and nationally recognised training designed to give learners the confidence, knowledge and hands-on skills to respond effectively in life-threatening emergencies involving people of any age. This Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Basic Life Support and Automated External Defibrillation for Adults, Children and Infants (RQF) is ideal for members of the public, community volunteers, activity leaders and those wishing to refresh or update their life-saving skills between longer first aid qualifications. Cardiac arrest can happen without warning, at home, in the workplace, at school or within the community. Every minute without effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and early use of a defibrillator (AED) significantly reduces a casualty’s chance of survival. This course gives you the understanding and practical ability to act confidently and safely when it matters most. You will learn how to recognise the signs of a medical emergency, how to assess and safely manage an unresponsive casualty, and how to perform high-quality CPR tailored for adults, children and infants. Training includes the safe and competent use of an Automated External Defibrillator, with age-appropriate considerations, so you can respond effectively across all age groups. The course blends clear instruction with realistic, hands-on practice. You will develop the practical competence to deliver Basic Life Support, position a casualty in the recovery position, and integrate AED use into your emergency response in line with current UK-based Resuscitation Council guidance. This qualification is particularly suitable for people with responsibility for others in community settings, volunteers, parents and carers, as well as anyone who wants to boost their first aid confidence. No prior first aid qualification is required, but learners must be at least 14 years old and able to perform practical skills on the floor. Successful candidates will receive a regulated Qualsafe Level 3 Award, valid for three years, showing you have the practical ability to intervene in emergencies involving cardiac arrest and other serious situations across all ages. Requalification before the certificate expiry date allows you to maintain current skills and assurance of competence.
