Course Description

Learn lifesaving skills for emergencies involving adults, children and infants with our Qualsafe Level 3 Award in BLS, AED and Management of Anaphylaxis for Adults, Children and Infants (RQF). This regulated qualification is designed for people who want the confidence and practical skills to respond to a cardiac arrest, unconscious casualty or severe allergic reaction. It is particularly relevant to people involved with community groups, sports and activity organisations, clubs, charities, voluntary organisations and other settings where an emergency could involve someone of any age. During the course, you will learn how to assess an emergency safely, carry out a primary survey and summon appropriate help. Practical training includes CPR and the safe use of an AED (defibrillator) for adults, children and infants, helping you understand the important differences when responding to casualties of different ages. You will also learn how to recognise and manage an unconscious casualty who is breathing normally, including the recovery position and continued monitoring. A dedicated part of the course focuses on anaphylaxis. You will learn how to recognise the potentially life-threatening signs of a severe allergic reaction, summon emergency assistance and provide appropriate first aid. You will also practise using adrenaline auto-injector training devices. This is practical training, not simply a classroom presentation. You will practise CPR, AED use and casualty management using adult, child and infant manikins and other training equipment. Practical assessment takes place throughout the course, helping you develop the confidence to put these skills into action in a real emergency. Successful learners receive the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in BLS, AED and Management of Anaphylaxis for Adults, Children and Infants (RQF). The qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement. Learners must be aged 14 or over on the first day of the course. As this is a practical qualification, you must be able to demonstrate the required procedures, including activities at floor level.
