Why We Choose Enhanced DBS Checks for All DTMK Training Services Staff
When schools, nurseries, and community settings invite an external training provider onto their site, trust matters. Not just in what is being taught, but in who is delivering it.
At DTMK Training Services, safeguarding is not an afterthought or a procedural exercise. It sits at the heart of how we work. That is why we have made the clear decision to require enhanced DBS checks for every member of our team, regardless of whether they are teaching children, young people, or adults.

Going beyond the minimum
For many training providers, the level of DBS check required depends on the audience or the venue. In some situations, a basic or standard check may meet the legal minimum.
We have chosen to go further, and there is a clear reason why.
When our team attend a school, nursery, workplace, or community venue, we assume a duty of care simply by being present. As first aid trainers, that responsibility extends beyond the course content itself. It includes how we conduct ourselves on site and how we respond if something unexpected happens.
Every person delivering training on behalf of DTMK Training Services therefore holds an enhanced DBS check. This applies even when courses are delivered to adults only.
In addition, all members of our team act as First Responders through the GoodSAM scheme. This means our trainers may be called upon to assist in real world medical emergencies.
By holding enhanced DBS checks across the team, we ensure our safeguarding standards match the level of responsibility we carry. It removes uncertainty for schools and nurseries and reflects the seriousness with which we approach our role.
Training environments are rarely straightforward. Schools, early years settings, and shared community venues often involve mixed age groups and overlapping activity. Our approach ensures safeguarding and professional responsibility have already been considered before we ever arrive.

Reassurance for schools and nurseries
We regularly deliver training in schools, nurseries, and venues used by children, young people, and families.
We understand the responsibility that comes with being welcomed into these environments.
By holding enhanced DBS checks across our entire team, we aim to give schools and nurseries confidence that:
All staff have been thoroughly vetted
Safeguarding expectations are understood and respected
There is no ambiguity around DBS suitability
Internal safeguarding arrangements are supported, not challenged
This helps reduce administration, avoids last minute questions, and allows staff to focus on learning rather than logistics.
Clear identification and verified staff on site
All DTMK Training Services staff carry a photo ID card when delivering training.
If someone is wearing a DTMK ID card, it confirms that we have verified who they are, that their identity checks have been completed, and that they are authorised to represent our organisation.
Each ID card clearly displays the staff member’s name and role, DTMK Training Services branding, and confirmation of an enhanced DBS check. For schools and nurseries, this provides immediate reassurance and a simple way for reception teams, safeguarding leads, and senior staff to confirm who is on site.
Safeguarding knowledge built into our team
Safeguarding at DTMK Training Services goes beyond background checks.
Every member of our team holds at least a Level 2 safeguarding qualification, ensuring a shared and consistent understanding of safeguarding responsibilities, professional boundaries, and appropriate conduct in education and community settings.
In addition, some members of our team are approved to deliver the Qualsafe Awards Level 2 Award in Safeguarding and Protecting Children, Young People and Adults at Risk (RQF). This means safeguarding is not just something we comply with. It is something we actively teach, assess, and apply in practice.
This depth of safeguarding knowledge helps ensure our trainers understand the expectations placed on schools, nurseries, and early years settings, including how concerns are identified, managed, and reported.
It also supports the quality of our delivery. Our trainers are experienced educators whose teaching is clear, professional, and consistently high quality.
Leadership oversight of our DBS policy and safer recruitment
Safeguarding at DTMK Training Services is overseen at director level.
Our Managing Director is personally involved in the recruitment and approval of every team member. This includes knowing who our trainers are, reviewing personal and professional references, and confirming right to work in the UK.
When working for DTMK nobody is permitted to attend a course venue or deliver training until all checks are complete and verified. This includes the return of an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
This approach ensures safeguarding decisions are never rushed and that responsibility is clearly owned.

Trusted people, not just paperwork
We believe safeguarding is ultimately about people.
If someone works for DTMK Training Services and carries our ID card, they are someone we know, trust, and stand behind. They are qualified, knowledgeable, and credible members of the community whose teaching and professional conduct are consistently high standard.
Whether we are delivering training to school staff, early years teams, or adult learners, our focus remains the same. High quality education, calm professionalism, and a genuine commitment to safety and wellbeing.
A culture of responsibility
Choosing enhanced DBS checks for all staff is not about marketing or compliance for its own sake. It is about aligning our actions with our values.
As a family run organisation with professional standards, we believe trust is earned through consistency, transparency, and doing the right thing, even when it is not strictly required.
When you welcome DTMK Training Services onto your site, you can be confident that safeguarding has already been taken seriously.
If you would like to discuss our DBS policy, safeguarding arrangements, recruitment checks, or identification processes in more detail, we are always happy to have that conversation.
Because feeling confident about who is on site should never be a concern.
