The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) – Blended Learning provides the same recognised qualification as the traditional three-day classroom course, while offering a more flexible approach to learning. By combining high-quality e-Learning with practical face-to-face training, learners can complete the theory element in advance at their own pace, before attending two days of classroom-based practical training and assessment.
This format is ideal for employers who may find it difficult to release staff for three full consecutive days, and for individuals who prefer the flexibility of completing part of their training remotely.
Course structure

e-Learning (approx. 6 hours): Learners complete the theory element online using an industry-leading platform, featuring videos, interactive activities and quizzes. The e-Learning must be completed before attending the classroom sessions.

Face-to-face (2 days – approx. 12 hours): Learners then attend in person for the practical element of the course. These sessions focus on developing and practising essential first aid skills, as well as completing the required assessments.
Successful candidates will:

The qualification content is based on the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) requirements for First Aid at Work training.
Intended audience
This qualification is for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide help to people in a range of first aid situations.
Entry requirements
Learners must be at least 14 years old on the first day of the training and be able to perform practical tasks at floor level. There are no other formal entry requirements, but we strongly recommend that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.
Other course requirements
Due to the practical nature of this course, Learners should wear appropriate clothing and footwear, e.g. trousers and flat footwear.
Requalification requirements
This qualification is valid for a period of 3 years. The Learner needs to retake the qualification before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified.
It is possible to reduce GLH when requalifying and attend a 12-hour FAW requalifying course if Learners produce their current or previous, recently expired (within one month), FAW certificate. The certificate should be in a format as accepted by the HSE. Requalification training should be delivered in no less than 12 hours (2 days) excluding breaks.
We also recommend learners complete annual refreshers to maintain their basic skills and keep up to date with any changes to first aid procedures

Assessment methods:
• Theory assessment/multiple choice question paper: 1 x 15 question paper (minimum score 11)

• Practical assessment – 7 completed throughout the course
Learners must complete all assessments in the unit successfully within the registration period to achieve the qualification. The maximum period to achieve this qualification, including any referrals is 10 weeks.

Catastrophic Bleeding
DTMK Training Services includes catastrophic bleeding training as standard within our Emergency First Aid at Work courses.
Learners receive practical training in recognising and managing life-threatening bleeding, including wound packing and the use of improvised and manufactured tourniquets.
This provides learners with additional practical skills to respond to severe bleeding emergencies alongside the core Emergency First Aid at Work qualification content.
