Course Description

Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) – Blended Learning Option The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) – Blended Learning provides the same fully regulated qualification as the traditional two-day course, but with added flexibility. Learners complete the theory element online before attending one classroom day focused entirely on practical skills and assessment. This course meets the Department for Education’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework requirements. It is ideal for childcare providers, schools, and anyone responsible for the care of infants and children who must meet statutory first aid obligations but may find it difficult to attend two consecutive days of training. Course structure • e-Learning (approx. 6 hours): Complete the online theory using an interactive platform with videos, activities, and quizzes. This must be completed before attending the classroom day. Access details will be sent within 48 hours of booking (usually sooner). • Face-to-face (1 day – approx. 6 hours): Attend in person to practise essential first aid skills and complete formal practical assessments. What you will learn • Roles and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider • Assessing emergencies and placing casualties in the Recovery Position • CPR, defibrillation, and choking management • Anaphylaxis, allergic reactions, asthma, meningitis, seizures, and febrile convulsions • Bleeding, shock, burns, poisoning, electric shock, and temperature-related injuries • Head, neck and back injuries, eye, ear and nose conditions, and bites and stings This qualification aligns with the EYFS syllabus and the Resuscitation Council UK guidance. Who the course is for Designed for individuals working in childcare or education, or anyone responsible for infants and children who requires a full Paediatric First Aid certificate. Meets statutory requirements for staff-to-child ratios in early years settings. Entry requirements Learners must be at least 14 years old and able to perform practical tasks at floor level. A minimum of Level 1 literacy and numeracy is recommended. Course requirements Learners should wear comfortable clothing and flat footwear suitable for practical activity. Completion of the e-Learning module before attending the classroom session is mandatory. Requalification This qualification is valid for three years. To remain qualified, learners must retake the course before the expiry date on their certificate.
