Course Description

Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) – Classroom Based Option The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) – Classroom Based option is a fully in person course delivered over two days, with all learning completed face to face. It provides the same fully regulated qualification as the blended learning route, but is designed for learners who prefer structured classroom teaching with continuous instructor support. This course meets the Department for Education’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework requirements and is suitable for childcare professionals, early years staff, schools, parents, and carers who want a traditional classroom experience with no online learning element. The classroom format allows learners to engage fully with the instructor, ask questions throughout, and practise skills repeatedly with guidance and feedback. It is particularly well suited to those who learn best through discussion, demonstration, and supported hands on practice. Course structure • Face to face classroom training (2 days – approximately 12 hours): All theory, practical skills, and assessments are completed in person across two classroom days. What you will learn • Roles and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider • Assessing emergencies and placing casualties in the Recovery Position • CPR, defibrillation, and choking management for infants and children • Anaphylaxis, allergic reactions, asthma, meningitis, seizures, and febrile convulsions • Bleeding, shock, burns, poisoning, electric shock, and temperature related injuries • Head, neck and back injuries, eye, ear and nose conditions, and bites and stings The qualification aligns with the EYFS syllabus and current Resuscitation Council UK guidance. Who the course is for Ideal for anyone working with or caring for infants and children who requires a full Paediatric First Aid certificate and needs to meet statutory early years requirements. Entry requirements Learners must be at least 14 years old and able to perform practical tasks at floor level. A minimum of Level 1 literacy and numeracy is recommended. Requalification The qualification is valid for three years and must be retaken before expiry to remain current.
