Course Description

Activity First Aid is a practical, two day qualification designed for people who lead, supervise, or support organised activities where injuries and medical emergencies are a realistic possibility. It is particularly suited to sports clubs, outdoor activity providers, youth groups, schools, volunteers, and anyone responsible for the safety of others during active sessions. This course focuses on building real confidence, not just ticking a box. Learners develop the knowledge and hands on skills needed to assess incidents calmly, manage casualties safely, and provide effective first aid until further help arrives. Training reflects the environments participants actually work in, where incidents may involve movement, uneven ground, weather exposure, or multiple people. The qualification covers the role and responsibilities of a first aider, scene assessment, and managing incidents safely. Learners practise how to respond to an unresponsive casualty, including CPR and the safe use of a defibrillator, as well as placing casualties into the recovery position. Medical emergencies such as heart attack, stroke, choking, asthma, anaphylaxis, epilepsy, diabetes, and poisoning are explored in a clear and practical way. The course also covers bleeding and shock, head and spinal injuries, fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains, burns and scalds, eye injuries, and the effects of heat and cold. Scenarios are discussed in the context of active settings so learners can apply skills appropriately rather than relying on theory alone. Training is delivered by experienced instructors using realistic equipment and scenarios to prepare learners for real life situations. The atmosphere is supportive and engaging, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and practise skills at a comfortable pace. Successful learners receive a regulated Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Activity First Aid, valid for three years. This qualification is recognised nationally and demonstrates a clear commitment to safety, preparedness, and responsible leadership within active environments.
