The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework states that early years providers should consider whether paediatric first aiders need to undertake annual refresher training to maintain essential skills and remain up to date with any changes to paediatric first aid procedures.

The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (Annual Refresher) (RQF) has been specifically designed to allow qualified paediatric first aiders to refresh their knowledge and practise vital paediatric first aid skills every year until their full requalification training is due.

Successful candidates will:

Refresh their knowledge of key paediatric first aid principles

Practise the safe, prompt and effective administration of paediatric first aid in realistic scenarios

Regain confidence in dealing with a wide range of emergency situations involving infants and children

Maintain familiarity with best practice and the latest guidance in paediatric first aid

Intended audience
​
This qualification is for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide help to infants and children in a range of first aid situations.

Entry requirements
​
Learners must hold a Paediatric First Aid or Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification. Learners should be at least 14 years old on the first day of the training and be able to perform practical tasks at floor level. There are no other formal entry requirements, but we strongly recommend that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.

Other course requirements
​
Due to the practical nature of this course, Learners should wear appropriate clothing and footwear, e.g. trousers and flat footwear.
Requalification requirements
​
This qualification is valid for 1 year. The Learner should retake the qualification before the certification expiry date.
​
The Learner should retake their primary paediatric first aid qualification before the 3-year expiry date to maintain the sequence of training recommendations issued by the EYFS
