Health and Safety Policy
1. POLICY STATEMENT
DTMK Limited recognises its moral and legal responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, and all other relevant UK legislation.
We are committed to taking all reasonably practicable steps to safeguard the health, safety, and welfare of employees, franchisees, contractors, learners, visitors, venue operators, and members of the public affected by our operations.
Although we are not currently seeking formal accreditation, our systems are designed to meet or exceed recognised standards of good health and safety management. We operate within a framework of continuous improvement, informed by standards such as ISO 45001, and adapt arrangements in line with any legal or regulatory changes.
Our objectives are to:

2. SCOPE
This policy applies to:

All employees, franchisees, and contractors working with DTMK Limited
-
All learners and delegates attending driving lessons, fleet driver training, first aid, or other training courses
-
All visitors to venues, vehicles, or events under our control
-
Activities delivered in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, with regional legal requirements observed
3. RESPONSIBILITIES
3.1 Directors

Provide leadership, resources, and commitment to health and safety
-
Ensure legal compliance and alignment with best practice
-
Set objectives and review performance annually
-
Maintain a legal register and ensure awareness of legislative changes
3.2 Managers, Trainers, and Instructors
-
Carry out risk assessments and implement controls
-
Inform learners and delegates of safety procedures, including fire exits, emergency arrangements, and safe use of equipment
-
Maintain safe vehicles and training environments
-
Report and record all accidents, incidents, and near misses
-
Support a culture of learning and continuous improvement
3.3 Employees and Franchisees
-
Take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others
-
Cooperate with DTMK policies and procedures
-
Report hazards or unsafe practices immediately
-
Follow all training and guidance provided
3.4 Learners, Delegates, and Visitors
-
Follow safety instructions and venue rules at all times
-
Avoid behaviour that could endanger themselves or others
-
Report accidents, incidents, or concerns promptly
4. ARRANGEMENTS
4.1 Risk Assessment
Risk assessments will be completed for:

Driving lessons and on-road training
-
Classroom and practical sessions
-
Use of first aid and medical training equipment
-
Venue suitability and welfare arrangements
Findings will be recorded and regularly reviewed.
4.2 Venue Coordination and Shared Responsibilities
When using customer-supplied or hired venues (e.g. schools, halls, conference centres), we will:

Confirm venue safety arrangements, including evacuation plans, first aid, and welfare facilities
-
Liaise with venue operators to share information
-
Brief learners on both venue-specific and DTMK arrangements
-
Carry out pre-delivery safety checks
4.3 Safe Environment

Instructional vehicles will be roadworthy, serviced, insured, and fitted with dual controls
-
Training equipment will be maintained, cleaned, and used in line with manufacturer instructions
-
Venues will be checked for accessibility, lighting, ventilation, and safe access/egress
4.4 Emergency Procedures
-
Emergency arrangements, including fire evacuation, explained at the start of sessions
-
Staff trained to summon emergency services
-
First aid provision available at all sessions
4.5 Accident and Incident Reporting
-
All accidents, near misses, and dangerous occurrences recorded and investigated
-
RIDDOR reporting completed where required
-
Corrective actions identified and shared to prevent recurrence
4.6 Health and Welfare
-
Suitable welfare facilities confirmed at each venue
-
Lone working risk assessed and controlled
-
Reasonable adjustments made for individuals with additional needs
4.7 Competence and Training
-
Trainers and instructors hold appropriate qualifications and safety knowledge
-
Learners receive instruction on relevant safe practices
-
Ongoing CPD encouraged to maintain standards
4.8 Safeguarding and Young Persons
-
Extra protections for under-18s and vulnerable adults
-
Safeguarding procedures followed in line with the DTMK Safeguarding Policy

Parental or guardian consent obtained where required
4.9 Subcontractors and Third Parties
-
Subcontractors must demonstrate compliance with health and safety law
-
Venue providers must confirm compliance with fire, health, and safety requirements
4.10 Awarding Organisation Requirements
Where qualifications are externally regulated, DTMK will ensure arrangements meet or exceed Awarding Organisation requirements.
5. MONITORING AND REVIEW

Performance monitored through incident reports, feedback, and risk assessment reviews

Health and safety objectives reviewed annually and updated as necessary

Legal register maintained and reviewed in line with UK legislation
-
This policy reviewed annually, or sooner if legislation, guidance, or operations change
