Course Description

Qualsafe Level 2 Award in First Aid Essentials (RQF) The Qualsafe Level 2 Award in First Aid Essentials (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification designed for those who have a specific interest or responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide basic first aid in emergency situations. This one-day course equips learners with the knowledge and practical skills needed to respond effectively to a range of first aid incidents. It covers essential life saving techniques and promotes confidence in dealing with medical emergencies before professional help arrives. What you will learn • Roles and responsibilities of a first aider • Assessing incidents and ensuring safety • Managing unresponsive casualties • CPR and defibrillation • Recovery Position and choking • Seizures, shock and external bleeding • Minor injuries, burns, cuts, grazes and bruises • Accident reporting and basic incident management An optional module on life threatening catastrophic bleeding can be included at the end of the course. By the end of the training, learners will be able to demonstrate safe, prompt and effective first aid, ensuring they can manage an incident until medical professionals take over. Who the course is for This qualification is ideal for those with a general duty of care for others, including workers in low risk environments, volunteers, and community members who wish to gain essential first aid skills. Entry requirements Learners must be at least 14 years old on the first day of training and able to perform practical tasks at floor level. A minimum of Level 1 literacy and numeracy is recommended. Course requirements Due to the practical nature of this course, learners should wear comfortable clothing and flat footwear suitable for floor-based activities. Full attendance is required to achieve certification. Requalification This qualification is valid for three years. Learners must retake the course before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified. This qualification forms part of the QA First Aid suite of qualifications and follows the recommendations of the Resuscitation Council UK and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) training standard.
