Serious bleeding can happen anywhere, whether at school, in the street, or even at home. When it does, every second counts. Knowing what to do while waiting for help can make the difference between life and death.
At DTMK Training Services, we deliver a two hour Bleeding Control and Knife Injury Response session that gives young people the confidence to act quickly and calmly in a crisis. It is not about fear or shock tactics. It is about empowerment. We teach practical, life saving skills that anyone can use, even without medical training.
Why this training matters
Incidents involving serious bleeding are becoming more common in everyday settings. Our goal is to make sure that young people know how to keep themselves and others safe, understand when to call for help, and can take simple steps that might save a life. By the end of the session, participants can:
Recognise life threatening bleeding
Apply firm, direct pressure to a wound
Pack a wound safely and effectively
Use improvised dressings when first aid kits are not available
Understand the safe use of a tourniquet
Communicate clearly with emergency services
Creating a safe space for learning
The session is designed to be supportive and age appropriate. We discuss difficult topics openly but respectfully, focusing on reassurance and teamwork rather than blame or fear. Our trainers are experienced in working with young people, ensuring the atmosphere stays calm, positive, and inclusive throughout.
Real skills that last a lifetime
These skills go far beyond knife related injuries. The same techniques can help in sports accidents, DIY mishaps, or road incidents. Every participant leaves knowing how to stay composed, protect themselves, and help someone in need.
A community approach
We believe safety starts with education. By giving young people the tools to act responsibly and confidently, we help create stronger, safer communities across Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas.
