Anaphylaxis is a severe and potentially life-threatening allergic reaction that requires immediate intervention. When combined with the ability to deliver effective CPR and use a defibrillator, these are vital skills that can save lives across all age groups.

It is also suitable for individuals looking to refresh or update their skills between longer first aid qualifications.

Successful candidates will:

  • Demonstrate the safe and effective administration of CPR to adults, children and infants

  • Safely set up and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in line with Resuscitation Council (UK) guidance

  • Recognise the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis and respond with safe, effective treatment, including the use of auto-injectors

  • Gain the confidence to act quickly and effectively in emergencies involving cardiac arrest or severe allergic reaction in people of any age

This qualification forms part of the QA First Aid suite of qualifications. The qualification and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of:

  • The Resuscitation Council (UK)
